Projects

  • SRI has set up sixty-eight electric hospital beds, two anesthesia machines, surgical supplies, hospital furniture, refrigerator/freeze, washer/dryer, laboratory equipment including microscopes, and other hospital equipment donated by Mercy Hospital and Medical Center.
  • Construction of 5,000 and 10,000 gallon water reservoirs has been completed. This has helped to improve the water shortage for the hospital. This was partially funded by the U.S. Embassy in Accra.
  •  A 100,000 watts standby generator has been installed, which will eliminate chronic electrical blackouts in the hospital but needs major maintenance.
  •  The rehabilitation of the abandoned warehouse into a Community Center has been completed. The Community Center houses a Conference Room, a Library and a Computer Training Center. The Center is serving its purpose in education, communication and basic social community construct. Ten acres of land has been prepared for pepper plantation. The Agriculture Center of SRI is being expanded with the plantation of Palm Oil trees.

  • The animal husbandry is up and running, needs land expansion and refurbishment.

* The dream of Saltpond Institute of Technology (SIT) is still alive. 53.26 acres of land has been acquired. The next step is the realization of the edifice and finally the opening of the Institute itself. The Computer Center and the animal husbandry will be the incubator for this agricultural and technical school.

* The SRI Soccer Team has been established to bring the community together in their only sporting event. We now have a cultural dancing group established in Saltpond. Is this the replica of the Chicago’s Art Institute in the making?
